Lamination
Once you have printed your swipe cards, you may want to laminate them so that they will better withstand normal day to day use.
NOTE: Some ink jet printers utilize water-soluble inks. Such inks will smear and run if handled repeatedly or if they get wet. It is essential that cards printed with water-based inks be laminated.
There are several options available as to how you might do this:
You can take the cards to any place that performs lamination, such as an office supply store.
You can laminate them yourself individually utilizing laminating pouches (available from most office supply stores) and either a standard home clothes iron, or a small pouch laminating machine (available from most office supply stores for about $50 and up).
If you have hundreds, or more, of cards to make, you can purchase or lease from your local office equipment company an automated card laminating machine which use laminating film supplied on rolls instead of using individual laminating pouches. (These machines can typically sell for from about $1000 and up.)
