Step 1 is "Selecting an Item/Group of Items". From this screen you identify the item or items for this tax rule. Remember: Each item will have ONLY ONE tax rule, which may consist of numerous taxes. To select an item, click on the check box next to the item name. To un-select an item, click on the check box again. Also, you may elect to apply the new tax rule to shipping charges as well by placing a check in the box next to "Check to apply tax rule to shipping charge.". (In some states, such a Pennsylvania, shipping charges are taxable.)

Current Tax Rule information - (Upper Left of the screen) This area lists the Rule name, the Type, and the Agency (as defined below). These fields will automatically fill in as you proceed through the steps, displaying your current tax rule information headings.
Example - (Lower left of the screen) This area provides specific examples for the current step.
The area to the right of the screen is where you select or enter necessary information pertaining to each step.
