Yahoo® Store Data Feed

The Yahoo® Data Feed menu option is used to upload a special file to Yahoo.com® which will be used to add your products to your Yahoo® Store.

How do I submit a data feed to my Yahoo® Store?

The data feed will need to be in a tab-delimited file called "data.txt".  The location f this file on your hard drive will be shown on the Upload Data Feed screen on the Yahoo®  tab.  By default, this file will be located in the same directory as your current   Y.E.S.! database.

There are two methods by which you may submit this file to Yahoo®:

1. by logging in to your Yahoo® Store and submitting the data feed file through the Merchant Account form; or,

2. by uploading the Yahoo® feed via FTP through Y.E.S.!.  To submit your feed to Yahoo® via FTP, you need to enter your Yahoo® Store user name, password and the Yahoo® directory (usually a number).

Click on the "Upload Data" button to submit your data feed via FTP.

NOTE 1: The data feed files are regenerated each time that you click on either the "Preview" or "Upload Website" button on the   Y.E.S.! toolbar.

NOTE 2: Your Yahoo® data feed will contain all of your inventory items which are flagged to be shown on your web site.  ("Include this Item on My Web page" is checked.)

Froogle Data Feed

The Froogle Data Feed menu option is used to upload a special file to Froogle.com (a part of Google.com) which will be used to add your products to the Froogle Search Engine.

What is Froogle?

Froogle is an extension of the Google search engine that millions of people around the globe use daily to research products before they purchase. Listing your product in Froogle is a free way to extend the reach of your marketing efforts to millions of new customers.

Google's worldwide user base performs more than 150 million searches a day. That presents an enormous opportunity to introduce your products to customers you might otherwise spend millions of dollars in advertising to reach. These are people actively searching for the items you sell. And did we mention inclusion in Froogle is absolutely free?

How do I submit a data feed?

If you would like to submit a data feed of your store's product catalog to Froogle, please complete and submit this form.  After  Froogle receives the form,  Frooglewill send you further instructions.

The data feed will need to be in a tab-delimited file;  Frooglewill send you a more detailed description. (The Y.E.S.! Froogle Data Feed utility will create and upload this file for you.) You will be able to upload it daily, weekly, or monthly.

There are a few conditions and limitations you should know about if you're thinking of providing a feed to Froogle. This beta release of Froogle only supports U.S. online stores with English-language websites and products priced in U.S. dollars. While Froogle plans to offer support for multiple languages and currencies in the future, Froogle wants to be sure Froogle offers the best possible experience to users and merchants before Froogle expands the service.  Froogle will not be accepting feeds from international merchants until that time.

Froogle points users to sites where they can buy actual products from the merchants that sell them. Therefore, to be eligible to submit a feed, you must sell products via your website and ship them to the buyer. If you sell services or custom products that do not have fixed prices, use your website only to promote an offline business, or are an affiliate marketing site, your site content may be crawled by and included in Google's web search, but it will not be included in Froogle. Nor will Froogle accept a data feed under these conditions.

Merchants who meet Froogle's criteria and want to submit a data feed must allow Google to crawl their websites by removing any robots.txt files that disallow Froogle's Googlebot spider.

When you click on the "Froogle Data Feed" tab, the following screen will open:

Steps to using the Y.E.S.! Froogle Data Feed:

STEP 1: Before you can actually submit a data feed to Froogle, you must be registered with Froogle.  Click on the "Step 1" area marked "Click Here" of the Y.E.S.!  Froogle Data Feed screen.  This will take you directly to the Froogle registration page in your Internet Browser.  Your Y.E.S.! website must already have been uploaded to the Internet, with at least one item available for sale.

STEP 2:  Froogle will send you a confirming email containing your Froogle Data Feed UserName and Password which you will need to upload your data feed. Enter your Store Name, as submitted to Froogle, in the "Store Name" field.   Enter your Froogle UserName in the field labels "User Name" and your Froogle Password in the filed labeled "Password".  If you check the box labeled "Save Password", you will not have to re-enter your password every time that you want to upload a data feed to Froogle.

STEP 4: After Froogle approves your data feed, you may submit a new data feed to Froogle as often as once per day.  You must submit a new data feed at least once every month, or your website will be removed from the Froogle search engine.   You must re-upload your website prior to submitting a new data feed to Froogle if you have made any changes on your website.  (The Froogle Data Feed and your website must be the same.)  Your new Froogle data feed will usually appear on the Froogle website within 24 hours.
